ze_downtown_apocalypse

Hello members of cs-frag!

 

Some days ago I started making a zombie escape map (my first ze map  ever). The map takes place in the downtown area of a city going through a main road, an alley, a couple buildings till you reach the port from where you take the boat to the escape island. If you have any suggestions for the story of the map, or any nice additions leave a comment and let me know. The map still is in pre-alpha state with not much to it, no lighting and props, and doors that actually open, but only brushes. Honestly I thought I wasn't capable of this, but anyway I'll give it a try.

 

So here are some pre-alpha screenshots, just to give you guys a general idea of how the map looks. Of course there will be props, details, and pretty much everything else added soon.

Alright, some updates:

On the original screenshots, the map was... empty. Now it has props, doors, elevators, details etc. I still didn't finish the ending rescue heli and nuke, maybe tomorrow :doge::doge:

 

Here are 5 screenshots:

PS. Don't mind the skybox it's bugged, will fix later. :kappa:

Sorry but the map will never come out, because of unexpected hammer error.(just like with zm_survivearena)

First I thought it was just a bad detail brush, so went to fix it, but hammer never compiled the new version. every time I tried, it still compiled the old map for me. And by then I had finished the escape boats, finale. Basically the map was ready to be shipped but hammer decided to be a giant dick (as in most of my mapping experience) and f***ed the map up just after all this work I had put into it. No idea why.

And as a matter of fact these kind of errors occur in about 50% of all my maps. I don't know if my filesystem is f***ed, or if my hammer is f***ed, but this is just discouraging and stupid. Thought you may wanted to know, so yea, lock the topic or whatever. I'll be thinking very seriously to make maps again on this setup, unless I figure out a way to change hammer's configs.

 

Too bad it was a good map.

ehh not really

 

1. Theres no pro mappers. there's a mapper and a not mapper. And I don't know anyone who could help me anyway.

 

2. It's most likely that I'm using nonsteam css and hammer, so if I buy the game from steam it will be fine. I guess if I am more careful I can avoid some problems. Hammer editor just likes to be a dick sometimes, even the "proest" of mappers can confirm that xD

try asking Puklica,Soft Serve or Skullz to help you out
